Why Simplistic Nutrition Exists
I'm Katie, an Accredited Practising Dietitian who works exclusively with IBS.
I've lived with IBS myself. I know what it's like to sit across from a doctor, get a diagnosis, and be told to "try a low FODMAP diet", and then leave with no real idea of what that means, how to do it properly, or who to turn to when it gets hard.
Over six years in practice, I've worked with hundreds of people with IBS, and I've seen that same story play out again and again. People doing their best with a Google search and a restrictive diet, months or years longer than they needed to, simply because no one gave them proper, structured support.
That's exactly why I built Simplistic Nutrition.
I made a deliberate choice to deliver this program via Telehealth across the whole country, not just face-to-face locally (though my home town of Mackay still gets the benefit of face-to-face appointments too). Dedicated IBS dietetic care is heavily concentrated in major cities. If you live rurally or regionally, you're often left with the least access to exactly the kind of support you need. Telehealth changes that. Whether you're in Mackay, a remote community, or anywhere else in Australia, you get the same structured program.
I'm so passionate about everyone with IBS getting quality, accessible care that I made the decision to run Simplistic Nutrition as a fully bulk billed service. This is something most dietetic practices don't do. I know how hard the cost of living is right now, and I wasn't willing to build a practice that only the people who could afford a gap fee could access. If you're eligible under a GP Chronic Disease Management referral, this program costs you nothing out of pocket.
This isn't a side-service alongside everything else I could offer. IBS is the only thing I see. That's deliberate. It means every resource, every session structure, and every piece of education in this program has been built specifically around IBS, not adapted from something more general.
It's also what makes the bulk-billing model possible in the first place. Because I don't split my time and attention across dozens of different conditions, the hours I'm not seeing patients go entirely into staying current with IBS research, clinical guidelines, and professional development in this one area. That focus is what lets me run this program fully bulk billed, while still delivering high-quality care for people with IBS.
My approach:
Evidence-based: built on the Monash University Low FODMAP research and current clinical guidelines for IBS
Structured: a defined program, not an open-ended series of chats
Supported: you’re never left to figure it out alone between appointments
Accessible: fully bulk billed, and available Australia-wide via Telehealth, because support shouldn't depend on what you can afford or where you live
If you're ready for IBS support that actually follows through, I'd love to work with you.
